"C" (cessée) is normalised to INACTIVE: Sirene records that the legal unit ceased, not the legal cause (dissolution, liquidation, merger…).
Name search at the source is relevance-ranked (up to 25 results). Uniqueness of a name match is asserted only when the ranked page already continues past every name-equivalent result; otherwise the result is AMBIGUOUS or UNABLE_TO_VERIFY. Use the SIREN for an exact lookup.
Sole traders who opted out of publication have their name withheld by the source; they can be verified only by SIREN.
Sirene is the national business directory; it is not a certificate of registration in the RCS (Registre du commerce et des sociétés) and publishes no good-standing concept.

Name search uses the register’s phrase search on the name as supplied; sub-units (underenheter) are not legal entities and are not searched.
