# Business Registration Proof

> Verify whether a business is officially registered and what the registry currently says. Deterministic, evidence-backed results for AI agents: queried live from official business registries, original names and status wording preserved, never fabricated.

Price: 0.018 USDC per charged verification, paid with x402 (exact scheme, USDC on Base mainnet (eip155:8453)). SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE and UNABLE_TO_VERIFY are never charged. Quotes, coverage and validation are free.

## Use
1. POST https://businessregistrationproof.online/api/v1/verify with JSON {"business_name": "Example Holdings LLC", "jurisdiction": "US-CO", "entity_number": "optional"} → 402 with the x402 requirement, price and the official registry that will be queried.
2. Resend the identical body with headers PAYMENT-SIGNATURE (x402 payload) and Idempotency-Key (16–128 chars) → 200 with result, confidence, entity, registration, source and evidence.
3. Retrieve later (free): GET https://businessregistrationproof.online/api/v1/verifications/{verification_id} with Authorization: Bearer <Idempotency-Key>.

## Results
- ACTIVE: Registered and current per the official registry. Does NOT imply good standing (see registration.standing). Charged.
- DELINQUENT: Still registered, but the registry marks it delinquent/noncompliant (e.g. overdue report). Charged.
- IN_LIQUIDATION: Registered, but in bankruptcy, liquidation or compulsory winding-up. Charged.
- SUSPENDED: Registration or powers suspended by the authority. Charged.
- INACTIVE: No longer active; the registry states no more specific legal reason (e.g. French "cessée", conversions). Charged.
- DISSOLVED: Dissolved (voluntarily, administratively or judicially). Charged.
- REVOKED: Registration revoked or forfeited by the authority. Charged.
- MERGED: Merged or consolidated into another entity. Charged.
- WITHDRAWN: A (typically foreign) registration withdrawn from the jurisdiction. Charged.
- CANCELLED: Registration cancelled or deleted from the register. Charged.
- NOT_FOUND: The selected registry returned no matching entity under the search used. Never means "does not exist anywhere". Charged.
- AMBIGUOUS: Several registered entities match; candidates are returned with entity numbers. Charged.
- SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE: The registry could not be reached. Says nothing about the business. Not charged.
- UNABLE_TO_VERIFY: The registry answered, but the evidence does not support a determinate result (unreadable response, unmapped status wording, or a name too common to check completely). Not charged.

NOT_FOUND never means "the business does not exist". "Could not retrieve" is SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE, never NOT_FOUND. ACTIVE never implies good standing; registration.standing reports only what the registry states.

## Matching
Conservative: case, accents, punctuation and legal-form spelling are normalised (LLC = L.L.C. = Limited Liability Company), but every distinctive word must match — "ABC Holdings LLC" never matches "ABC Holding Group LLC". Several matches → AMBIGUOUS with candidates. entity_number gives an exact lookup (HIGH confidence).

## Coverage (official registries only; not global)
- FR (France): INSEE (French National Institute of Statistics) — Sirene business register, with INPI national business register data. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = SIREN. Listing: ALL_STATUSES.
- NO (Norge): Brønnøysund Register Centre — Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = Organisation number. Listing: CURRENT_AND_DELETED_BY_NUMBER.
- US-CO (Colorado): Colorado Secretary of State. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = Colorado Secretary of State ID number. Listing: ALL_STATUSES.
- US-CT (Connecticut): Connecticut Secretary of the State. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = Connecticut business account number (Business ID). Listing: ALL_STATUSES.
- US-NY (New York): New York Department of State, Division of Corporations. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = NY DOS ID. Listing: ACTIVE_ONLY.
- US-OR (Oregon): Oregon Secretary of State, Corporation Division. Lookups: name_search, entity_number_lookup; number = Oregon registry number. Listing: ACTIVE_ONLY.
